Menu Board

For me, this last week seemed like my first as a "Stay at Home Mom." Yes, I have been home with Lucy since she was born but between everything that's gone on since then, this was like my first normal week. Between having guests at our house, being guests at my parents' house, and packing/unpacking for the move, this was the first week I really felt settled. We are all unpacked and Kris started his classes. I'm still a little spoiled because he is home in the mornings. It has been a lot easier to keep the place clean because it's smaller but I'm also able to put Lucy down  a little bit more. In addition to trying some new recipes out and keeping the house clean this week, I was able to do a project that I've been wanting to do for a while now: a Menu Board.

I had toyed with lots of different ideas on how to do this and spent time searching on Pinterest for different ideas. I ended up needing to do a horizontal board simply because that was really the only wall space we had in the kitchen. I used a menu card template from this website. This way, the card has the recipe name on the front and a list of ingredients needed as well as where to find the recipe on the back. I kind of decided what features I liked and took the best of each board from Pinterest to make something that worked for me and I really like how it turned out. Here's some pictures:

Completed Version. These are our meals for next week and our shopping list (easy to make since ingredients were conveniently listed on the back of each card!) I have 48 recipes right now but need to buy some more cardstock so I can print out some more.
I used velcro to stick up the shopping list notepad and the meals box. It makes it easier to go through and pick what we are going to eat and to write out the shopping list rather than keeping it up on the wall. You can kind of see the velcro in this picture (it's hard to see because it's white on white)
And this is where we put it in the kitchen. I think it fits perfectly in the space we have there. I am really proud of it!

My next project is kitchen towels with ties to stay on the oven handle... another Pinterest-inspired idea. Hopefully I'll be posting pictures of that soon!
