So, it's been quite a while since I lost blogged. There have been many changes for the Cannon family. The biggest change was already announced- we now live in Bloomington, Indiana! The drive was not our favorite thing to do but wasn't too unpleasant, either. Kris's mom helped us pack ALL of our belongings in the car (that was interesting) and we were on our way. We got to stop in Nebraska and stayed with some of Kris's family. It was great for me to get to meet them, we had a great time, and got a day of rest between our two big driving days.
Once we got here, we had one day to move into our new apartment (which I LOVE-- I had sort of been planning on waiting to blog so I could post pictures, but you'll just have to wait for those until we get our pictures up and actually take those pictures :)) We were able to get most of our stuff in, my family was a big help. Kris and I have been very blessed to get a lot of great deals on furniture since we got here. I've loved getting to put together our own little place. The very next day after we moved in, I started work. I work at Kelly Services- a lot of people have probably heard of it, but for those who haven't, it's essentially a temp agency. We also do some temp-to-hire or direct-hire positions but a lot of it is temporary work. It's been a lot different than I expected. I don't have any experience in HR or Customer Service so I'm learning lots of new things. I feel very lucky to have gotten the job. Many of you might not have heard how I came to work at Kelly. About a month before we were going to move, a got a phone call from the girl who used to have this job. She was in my parents' ward so I had met her a couple of times. She and her husband would be moving and she remembered that Kris and I were moving to Indiana soon and wondered if I would be interested in the position. Of course, I said yes. I had a phone interview with my potential boss, did some online testing, and had a face-to-face interview with a Kelly manager in Utah. Much to my surprise, I was offered the job! I graduated college with a job already set up and had not even spent a day looking for work. It's been hard sometimes because there is so much to do, but it's a rewarding job. The other day, a man I had helped find a job for just thanked me so sincerely on the phone. It made me feel like all the hard work I had to do to make sure everything went smoothly was all worth it.
So far, we've loved it here. The ward is great- we feel so welcome. There are a lot of other young couples in the ward and everyone is just so friendly. Kris just got called to be the 1st counselor in the Elder's Quorum Presidency. We are both excited about that. I know he'll do a wonderful job.
I'll post again soon with pictures of our place. Maybe I'll get Kris to write a little bit about his new school, too. He likes it much more than his last school and is doing really well.
