Trip to Chicago

I thought I'd catch up on some events over the last few months that I never really blogged too much about. The most major thing was our trip to Chicago in September. Kris had a weekend off work so we decided to take a trip. We had a gift certificate for a night's stay at a hotel so we booked it and headed up to Chicago. We drove until Lucy got hungry then decided we'd stop for dinner too. We didn't notice we were in Gary until we were getting close to a Subway. Seriously a pretty shady place. I fed the baby, we got a meal to go and we kept going. It should've been less than an hour to our hotel from there but it took well over two hours since we were stuck in traffic so long- seriously bad. Not to mention the GPS kept losing signal and thinking we got off the highway when we didn't. Crazy! Anyways, we made it to the hotel in one piece and it was very nice. We got a decent night of sleep and then woke up early to go to the temple. Kris dropped me off and took Lucy back to the room where he watched her while I did a session. Here's some pictures of Lucy in the hotel room:

Then he packed up the room and drove over where we traded off. Lucy and I hung out in the waiting room for a while until she had a MASSIVE spit-up. You may think this is a normal thing but not for Lucy. We don't even use burp cloths ever because she just never spits up. This got all over her clothes and my clothes. So we headed back to the car and changed. Then we spent some time walking around the grounds while we waited for Kris.We took some pictures while we waited.

After we finished at the temple, we ate at Boston Market (we don't have any of those nearby) and then headed into Chicago, where, again, the traffic was awful. I guess there was  game that day. Lucy started SCREAMING and we couldn't find parking. We ended up having to pay $50 to park. So we paid and went into the aquarium. It is a great aquarium. Lucy really enjoyed watching the fish, too. I snuck a picture of Kris holding her while they were watching the big fish tank. We couldn't have flash on but it turned out OK:

Lots of people commented on how cute she was. Then we wanted to head over to the Sears Tower (its called something else now but I don't remember what). We didn't want to have to go through traffic and then have to pay another 50 bucks to park again so we took a taxi- our very first time. When we got there, the people said it would be at least 2 hours to go up to the top. We decided to just head out because it wouldn't have been fun to be there that long, plus then by the time we got back to the car, the game would be over and we'd hit game traffic heading home. We did have a nice time at the aquarium and the temple but overall, we have decided not to head back to Chicago again anytime soon. Maybe if we didn't have to drive :)
